Happy Birthday Miss Elisa!

Happy birthday Elisa!

Today is our granddaughter Elisa Londyn‘s first birthday, and as the saying goes “time flies when you are having fun”, and what a fun year it has been!

Hum…I wonder what’s that?

Ms Elisa, mom and dad’s “little nugget”, and her grandparents’ delight is a bubbly, always smiling, happy baby girl. She began walking about a month ago and is now into discovering everything in her path. She is also “talking”. Grandma now needs a “baby talk” dictionary, because Elisa keeps talking (to me and everyone else) with her beautiful expressive eyes while pointing her hands, in a rapid fashion, while repeating “pata, pata, pata, pata…” I am trying to decipher the meaning of “pata, pata, pata, pata”; the hand movement thing I will attribute to her Latina roots, the rest is a mystery to me. LOL!

Mommy, that cake was so good!

Elisa was born on Memorial Day last year so we marked her first birthday with a traditional barbecue at Orlando‘s Moss Park this past weekend, a fitting theme for the occasion. Here are a few pictures of the birthday picnic in the park. Elisa must have been in “baby heaven”…both sets of grandparents were in attendance along with Mom and Dad, cousins and friends; how cool is that?  As you already know, I was in Grandma heaven!

Where's my cake, I want some more...Happy Birthday little Miss Sonrisa!!! Abuela loves you!

We just don’t know how lucky we are!

A friend forwarded this video to me today, and I was speechless after viewing it. I encourage you to view it, it is very brief; but so full of wisdom I decided to share it with you.

A good reminder of the power of words, be kind to one another, because… We just don’t know how lucky we are!

Happy Mothers’ Day Ladies!

Mothers: What do we really want to do today? Well, it all depends on the stage of motherhood we are living in.

Stay at home mother of one or more children going through various growing stages: nursing, learning to walk, getting into everything in sight? There is an app for that, you definitely want a day off; let hubby take care of the children. A couple of hours at a day spa including a massage, mani-pedi, facial, and getting the hair done, sounds like a perfect plan.

As a matter of fact this is a perfect plan for any mother of tweens, teenagers, college bound students, kids returning home after school, or who get laid-off from their jobs–you name it. Seriously, this app works wonders under all of the above circumstances. LOL

However,  if you are an empty nest mother, such as myself, the above app will still work and will make you feel good, but only for a little while. What you really want to do on Mothers’ Day is spend some time with your kids, never mind that they are adults with a family of their own and live out-of-town. A visit from the kids (so you can spoil them with dinner) is what I keep hearing from the empty-nest women I talk to.

I am a lucky mother who does not dare complain about not spending enough time with my girls because every chance we get, we are together–we seize the moment. I am a lucky mother whose heart is full of love, pride and joy for our daughters today; having them in my life is the best present of all. But, one can hope–right?

Happy Mothers’ Day, to my daughters Natalie, Yasmin and Nasima, and to all the other mothers out there, go have some fun today!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unfocused

Did I capture the super moon tonight? Yes, I think so. But I also got some blurry shots. Still, it was worth the effort for this week’s photo challenge–Unfocused.  http://bit.ly/JbKlUm

Super moon? Really? I have to see that
Clouds in the way. The Super Moon is due to come out on Cinco de Mayo, not today..
Cinco de Mayo Super Moon, still unfocused but seen clearly from my driveway, LOL

Weekly Photo Challenge: Together

I was busy and almost forgot to post my entry for this week’s photo challenge, together. I took these pictures last week while visiting one of my favorite places in town, Bayshore Live Oak park; and as I looked down into the water here is what I saw. A little sign of life among the rocks. Isn’t nature just amazing? It really is the little things that make life full!

A new sign of life…
A tree grows in the Peace River!
There it is…more signs of life!
